Farmers Wife Sample Quilt Blocks

I recently purchased this book, and generally I don't follow a pattern for most things I make, I am looking forward to this challenge of making 111 sample blocks but using fabrics I already have and using up scraps where possible.

I have made a start on this and have now cut out blocks listed below. Will post photos once I sew them together!

Quilt for Master B

I'm making another quilt, this time its for Master B for Christmas. I have already made a quilt for Master W here.

This is how I start a quilt.......it starts with an idea scribbled down and fabrics I want to use.

I had a bit of quilters block with this quilt. I had fabric above, with my homespun plain bright colours from Nelly Applebys. I knew exactly what I want it to look like (and they never look 100% like my doodles) so the other day I brought more fabric Alexander Henry- Rush hour and also Map in white print. So fabric buying sure did help! I saw down in one evening and put together....

Circle quilt progress

Tuesday night craft nights and my once a month craft group night have been very productive and my patience has been tested sewing these semi circles. I have been using the technique suggested here using 3 pins.

80+ blocks finished

They are all done now, just need to cut off loose threads iron and sew together!

Productive weekend

I did get to get out to the Dunkleys craft show here in Christchurch. It was really nice to go alone.

I brought some fabric from SewPretty Amy butler print, fat quarter of circles, new bamboo knitting needles and circular knitting needles (I just now need to learn how to use circular needles) from Artisan Fibres and of course a new Christmas decoration to add to our collection from NZ Folk Art Guild- Christchurch.

This is Sunday afternoons productive work (after I hemmed my brothers jeans and fixed his shorts). 4 new blocks for another quilt I have started
