We are the A team

This year for Master B's birthday we painted hulk t-shirts and the boys loved it.

I thought it would be awesome for Fathers Day to get us each a plain white top and have an A image.
(a for awesome, a for a team, a for amazing etc...)

I did a quick Google search and came across an Avengers image (I had to make a few changes due to print quality and it wasn't really a circle or exactly what I wanted but it would do)

With the same process as the hulk tops-  printing an image, cutting it out and using it as a stencil. I had black paint left over from the hulk tops. They were all pretty quick to paint.

The boys think they are awesome and Mr B loved his just as much and wore it all Fathers Day.

So simple and effective for the A team.

Why I take selfies

I have seen many posts on line slamming selfies.  In some cases I can see why, with some people posting them daily (or even multiples times a day) and even in their underwear?!?- not cool and very much an over share people- over share.

I have also read a few blog's and I really liked this one from a mum's perspective

The reason I take selfies is for my boys.

I want them to look back on our photo's (we have many thousands!!!) and see me ( me in real life )
Its far to easy to take photos of just them and everything around us. I find that being behind the camera makes it far to easy to become lost. Memories of our family need to be all of us.

It gets very easy to be waiting for life to be picture perfect, wearing he right clothes, owning the right things and always going to exotic places. These ordinary moments of home and life are the ones my boys are going to remember.

Project life for me is a reminder I need to be in our photos. We are living life together. It may not be glamorous but its our life and we are here now.

My challenge to other mama's- do it for yourself (embrace the now!) and do it for your children. Take a selfie or two doing what you love. Get in the photos others offer to take. It makes for great memories and your kids will love looking back on those photos.

its been 4 years

Its been 4 years.

I was looking back on my first blog posts way back in June 2011. And my first post about the earthquakes was here in June 2011. I found it much easier at the time to not blog/talk about what was going on. For me September was the easy shake- maybe I thought it wasn't blog worthy.

For me this one was an experience I never want to repeat and it took me a year to write about it.

Now in September 4 years has passed and life for us has continued. I have learnt a thing or two about myself.

I have learned that I am tougher and smarter than I think. I have fight in me when I need it and know when its a good time to walk away. I am still learning to let the small things go. Everything doesn't have to be perfect all the time.
Learning to say no and know my limits. Learning to appreciate the small wonders and moments that make me smile.

I have learnt to reach out for help. Talking about life, the good and the bad- its good for me and for others to know its not all sunshine and roses. Everyday is a new day- thankfully!

I was surprised at how much I needed last year to unload and how much I kept piling on before I saw the cracks. I need to take those selfish me time moments and time alone just for me.

Its very easy to get caught up in the frustrations. We are still waiting 3 years on for our sewerage/storm water to be fixed. We had to wait over a year to be paid out for defects to our house repairs. *sigh*. But in the bigger scheme of things we are happy and healthy, have a safe and warm home.

My post about contentment sums up where I am at the moment. Content.

many many half triangles

I have been busy cutting, sewing and ironing many 1/2 triangles.

It feels good to have a vision and its so quick once you get sewing and see it all come together.

Hoping to get it quilted and finished in the next few weeks.
