Hexagon duvet cover is done!
I started with hexagons BUT decided against unpicking all my hand stitching so I started with a single stack of hexagons and a new plan
161 hexagons later
I had to figure out where they all go once I hand stitched 343 together on to white blocks of fabric
then I started start sewing row 1-7
and ironing them all in the right direction to create amazing french seams
and this point I stood back and went "ohh" and "ahhh" and admired the seams
and still more sewing
and then I may have run out of white thread.... BUT a thread fairy dropped some off to me so I could finish *thank you*
and last but not least hand sewing it on to the white duvet cover- over 8m and more thread later
I'm feeling rather proud of myself to see it all done and our our bed!
the beauty of a french seam
I brought a plain white duvet for the hexagon quilt and I didn't want to worry about the seams fraying or being exposed in-between the top of the hexagon layer and top of the white duvet layer.
I found the answer- a french seam! This tutorial here and here show simply how to do it.
It looks amazing! Clean and not too bulky. It did take some time and thought with the ironing and direction of seams but well worth the extra thread sewing every seam and all the repetitive ironing. I cut down 1/8th off the original 1/4 inch seam- just so the next 1/4 inch seam didn't catch when I ironed it back over and sewed it again.
I am enjoying how simple and clean all the lines are on the back. No fraying and worry for me here!

5 year old Superhero party
For Master W's 5th Birthday we had a superhero theme!
I made some photo booth props for birthday. They were so simple. Plain card stock, stencil, vivid, Popsicle sticks. Simple and fun!
Master B tested them out for me when I was making them.
I brought simple gifts for Master W's friends. Masks and a colouring in book.
I brought the masks from Les Pommes Rouges and she also makes awesome children's capes and great crocheted hats and scarves!! I asked for a superman logo and had it stitched to a tee shirt for the party
It all turned out to be a great day!!
We asked all the children to dress up as their favourite superhero.
The kids built superhero getaway cars/bikes/boats for their action heroes. Coloured in, played with the trains and toys ate and had a great time!
We ate delicious cake!
We had a great day celebrating a very special day for Master W.
