Bright baby quilt
Its always fun to make a quilt for boys. This is for a baby shower gift and I love making quilts for new babies. I used fabric from my stash and having already made the boys quilts I had a few boys prints and lots of plain fabrics in bright colours.
I had Master B help me while I was working out how much fabric I needed
I sewed the strips together
I find it always takes the longest to iron all the seams and baste!
I took a while to get the tension on the machine sorted...but after a coffee and resetting the machine it worked perfectly!
After spending a few hours hand stitching on the binding.....giving it a wash and a spin in the dryer.....its finished!
This quilt was super fun to make and so bright and cheerful!

This front and back didn't take very long at all. I made the strips 5" wide so I didn't loose the images of the awesome boy prints I used and I just love the bright solid colours

Date night
This months date night (22nd- its our wedding anniversary date so makes it easy to remember every month). We take month about so previously we have gone to the movies, had a date night in preparing a yummy dinner together or even just spending time together doing a puzzle.
This month with it being my turn I thought it would be a good idea to go out and have dinner. This was also a good time to complete something from my 30 before 30 list and have a night out with my husband and number 16. Go out to dinner and eat dessert before the main meal.
I booked a table at Strawberry Fare and we ordered dessert first and shared a plate (how romantic)
It was a perfect date and we came home to two sleeping boys (always a bonus). I'm looking forward to Mr B organising next months date already!

Bloggers get together
One thing I am really enjoying about Christchurch is community. And I am noticing how everyone knows someone who knows someone I know....its a small world (or small Christchurch in this case) and the great thing I have found with blogging- everyone is so lovely!!
It was organised that we (Christchurch bloggers would meet up) at Crafty Christchurch

It was a great evening meeting the people who you all know a fair amount about after reading their blogs and seeing all the exhibitors and browsing through fabric and crafty things.
Photo Friday
flowers from my garden |
Picked my first daffodil this week and we had some sunshine...Spring is soon... Hooray for Fridays!
my days as a mum
There are many days when all I feel like I do is get jobs done and don't stop and play and enjoy and there are other days where I can accomplish anything the day throws at me.... but there are moments I am glad I have the camera close to capture priceless moments with my boys.....
Like this one where all he wanted was to show me the spaceship
We can create and build anything from dulpo, lego, blocks
I end up with far more washing than expected after the boys found that dirt+water = fun!
We have an awesome garden and loads of space for the boys to play and I also get beautiful flowers to pick
Sometimes I wish the back yard wouldn't flood and make a lake but then the boys wouldn't have endless amounts of water to play in for hours at a time
I get to see how creative the boys are when they build things to show me
Its handy to have someone on the other side of the door to let you in when you thought it was a good idea to take a photo only wearing your socks on the front door step
I never eat lunch alone and sometimes we find Wally at the same time
Its always fun until I can't find Woof and then its just frustrating!
Moments like this make me smile and realise how much they look like Mr B
I am really good at creating roads and houses in an afternoon
My boys can play so well together just as long as they are back from their boat trip before dinner
I love wearing my gumboots like the boys do but sometimes its more because the back yard is under water and I need to get to the clothes line
My boys like to dress them selves and I often get asked why they are wearing shorts this time of year- I really dont mind as long as they are dressed
I love that that they are interested in craft and can create the most amazing drawings and models made of card, paper and stickers
They even can do puzzles well and help me out when I find them hard
They always seem to find the most fun uses for the washing trolley
I am just glad we can recycle all the tiny bits of cut up paper they can make in a short amount of time
There is never a dull moment with my boys!

my first market!
I survived my first market. Myself and a talented friend who makes the most awesome crochet hats shared a table with me at child baby gear sale. We made sure we did a test table set up before the day of the market so we had plenty of time to do any last minute jobs or just have time to make things for the table before Saturday morning.
The morning went well and we got the table all set up and everything went without a hitch and through out the day it was awesome to see people we knew as well as talk to everyone that came by our table and people we saw were so encouraging. I did sell a few things so was excited about that!
I have just listed everything on felt that I brought back with me.
It was a great day and a good learning experience. Being prepared, having a friend next to you and just having realistic expectations about it all made for a great morning!

It has been a pretty wet week with all the rain we had. We hope its a dry weekend so my garden can recover!
new babies
I love new babies, they just smell wonderful and when you hold them their knees are up around their waists, they have tiny fingers and toes and its just an amazing miracle to see the gift of new life!
I am so very thankful my boys were a good healthy weight at birth and pretty much on time with their due dates- a whole 9lb (instant 4kgs) each. But there are many babies born every year that are impatient to come into this world and come too early or for medical reasons need to be in hospital under specialist care in the NICU units. I have personally known families who have had babies need the support of the NICU unit in Christchurch. I have recently found through Facebook Earlybuds and the packs they make for new babies and the support resources through their website
If you want to help here is the link to their website with a list of ways you can help this organisation helping others!!
