complete chess set

Lego Chess is complete! Its so nice to have this done and with plenty of time before Mr B's birthday. The 12 last pieces that I forgot to order for the base arrived.

As you can see it looks like the image from the lego software (winning)

I was thinking about a fun storage solution for all the chess bits that wont be attached to the board for storage.

A lego lunch box seemed to be perfect!

I have had a few people ask how I made this and where I brought all the lego parts from- here's the low down.

Firstly it is way more expensive to make it this way by ordering each part from bricklink. We have used this site many times to replace missing lego from the sets we have and found it to be awesome.
There is no real lego instructions- they were found on line here.

Secondly- yes you could at one stage go and just buy a lego chess set off the shelf. I decided not to buy this set for a few reasons- hence forth making one.

Thirdly- It took time to order and get the 7 orders for all 300+ parts from all over the world but honestly- we have a unique chess set that I'm sure Mr B and the boys will just love for years to come!

Now my next task is to figure out how to play chess!
