I'm sure that many others wont find this step emotional or even that big but for me its a huge milestone in my boys growing up. Its like them saying their first word, taking a step, toilet training or starting school just to name a few. For me buying the boys actual single beds and selling their cots is a big thing for me.

Initially I felt sad but at the same time it is very exciting...my boys are growing up so fast!

We went and brought new sheets for their single beds. Thankfully I had thought ahead and their mattress protectors and duvet covers were already single that we were using on their other beds. That was one less thing to buy. We did manage to find some nice boys sheets and get 4 different designs which is always nice!

I also didn't buy a valance for their beds - more because most valances are really girly looking and pleated- instead I brought a plain fitted sheet in blue and used it to put over the base. Covering the base with the blue looks nice with the sheets and duvet colours.

So its been an exciting day buying new linen and making up the boys beds. Hooray for a comfy new beds and a good nights sleep.

I have made a few more dolls this past week to have ready for the halswell plunket child baby gear sale next weekend.

I am feeling like things are coming along well! And even better now my wrist is feeling better and my plastic wrist support from the this post doesn't have to be worn all the time. Time to start on the strength exercises!!

Striped Rainbow Quilt

I have started a quilt for friends of ours having their second little girl later this year. I have previously made a Rainbow Quilt.

One thing I noticed when choosing fabrics was how I was lacking in reds, oranges and yellow fabrics! I had started ironing all my fabric which was really handy for me cutting and finding what I needed.

I need to get a few more fabrics and decide on the backing fabric and what size it will end up being......

We brought our 6 seat dining table and chairs when Master B was little so they have been very well used the past 5 years!

We had the fabric come away in a few places and a few missing screws made a few of them a little wobbly.

I asked a blogging friend for words of advice and wisdom before I made a start on this project! First step was to find fabric. I did find plenty of trade me for the bargain price of $6 for the roll. We also brought a few extra screws to replace the missing ones and a box of staples for the staple gun we borrowed. The total cost was just over $20!

Here's how we recovered the chairs....

Step one- Remove the seat pads- unscrew the screws from beneath the chair

Step two - Figure out how much fabric I need to recover the seat pads and cut out 6 large squares of fabric with print running in the right direction. I had more than enough left over from my roll from trade me.
