Past few weeks its been like this....

We have been enjoying the sunshine

Brought 2 wooden bowls for $2 at an op shop. Master B says we should use them for chip and dip

We now have a confident Master B on his bike

I brought some fabric from Sewpretty 

and made hexagons

and a few more

Master W had been doing a lot of  this- he's much better now

but looked so cute even when he was sick

I have been enjoying the time with Mr B at home

Boys have been doing a lot of lego building/ destroying

We even attempted organising lego into groups

Sago is growing

We have been doing some training with her

Got 14 new side plates from Ecoshop for FREE

Made my Christmas gift

It was yummy!

We have been lazing around

Mr B brought a new book..

and has been learning a new skill

Now we are back into the swing of things of normal routine!

Hexagons!

Hexagon template arrived. I found this great Cutting Hexagons Tutorial which I used with my hexagon template and it was a breeze to use!

Hexagons basted using paper hexagons

I cut out 19 hexagon shapes using 3 different fabrics. I used this Basting Tutorial from a blog I follow called jaybirdquilts as reference for basting (attaching the fabric hexagons to the paper)

Since i'm impatient I already sewed two hexagons together using whip stitch and this Hand sewing Tutorial and I found this a great way to use the last of my machine thread on the bobbin.

Needle book for myself

I have made a few needle books for Christmas gifts and after making them for others I wanted one. So I sat down this afternoon and made one just for ME and a few plasters later from getting myself with pins, this is what I have. My finished size is width 26cm x length 23cm (laid out). If you want to see where I got my inspiration from its pinned in my Pintrest.

More Farmers Wife Quilt blocks

For the past month I have been making Christmas cards and gifts for friends and family so my Farmers Wife Quilt blocks having been sitting in zip lock bags waiting to be sewn.

 So I did some sewing- and here is what I made!

13 blocks I have made so far!

So I have been busy- 5 blocks made in 2 days- and one extra I have made and posted for a friend for her Farmers Wife Quilt- I hope she likes it as much as I do!

So 13 made 98 to go! Going to start cutting more blocks out. I have 8 page markers for the next bunch to do, but not today as Master W has now been unwell for 11 days and counting so feeling grumpy and less patient from the lack of a full nights sleep which aftershocks have also have not been helping when they wake us in the night!.

Hello New year!

With the new year here- hello 2012 we ask for a safe, un eventful, less grumpy, family filled, more patient, less shaky, happier year!!

With a new year I have started a list a 30 before 30 list- note my list is lacking things (I only have 15 things on my list at the moment) I will post it once I actually have 30 things on my list.
Here are a few blogs I have taken inspiration from larakate.blogspot.com and dayinthelifeofacreativemummy.blogspot.com

I also went through my Google reader and have un-starred a huge stack (1000+) of things I had liked over the past year and never done anything with SO I went and put them into a document with a label and the link and its now organised for the new year.

• Things to make for Christmas
• Inspiration

This will also make things easier to go back and find the link- even when I make things from Pinterest I can add them to my document and mark them off when I make them (or delete when I dont want them)

I am starting the year being organised and with a LONG list of things to make. And to start off the new year I just ordered these Hexagon template/paper templates from kiwiquilts. Excited to start!!!

Also if you can think of anything to add to my 30 before 30 list please post a comment.

Happy 2012!! And on a side note- what one word would you use to sum up your 2011? Mine would be - eventful!
