knitting socks on two needles done!

I made a start knitting socks on 2 needles few months ago. 

Once I found my knitting groove they started to grow quickly. I am now loving my stitch counter- makes counting so much easier!!

I had to change needle sizes after I turned the heel (figured this out once  I have finished one sock- had it stitched together and it was way to tight around the foot- argh!!!!) Turns out I knit with tight tension. The rib and all the way to the heel were perfect in the size 2 3/4mm needle and after the heel I changed to a size 3 1/4mm needle.

I have also adjusted my knitting technique (the way I hold my needles while knitting/purling) thanks Nana! who would have thought a simple adjustment of technique would make such a difference in my speed and efficiency.

I'm so glad I made the adjustment and finished the socks cause they fit and they are both exactly the same size!

Master B wouldn't adjust the socks and pull one up for the photo.  They are just adorable with one not quite pulled up.

I've now made a start on Master W's socks and have started them on the 3 1/4mm needles from the beginning. Off to knit one row, purl one row.

I've gone to print

I'm sure you have noticed the change in my blog. I am really enjoying the new more modern me.

This has been a long time coming. Last year I created a stamp from vista print for making my own cards. At the time it was awesome, effective and really cheap.

I ordered on line from moo.com mini cards and they are adorable! I have 4 different images in the back and the same image on the front of all 100 cards.

The fabric with the image was from spoonflower.I created my own labels by creating my own fabric. I only ordered a fat quarter to see how printing would turn out. I plan on making another order and tweaking a few things.

I have created mini hoops of crochet and vintage liberty fabric hexagons.

Feels good to get back into the creative swing of things.

a quick train track fix

I brought a bag of wooden train track on our Op-Shop day. I was pretty happy with my purchase given how expensive the track is to buy new.

I got it home to find that 20 or so tracks were missing the male end that hold to tacks together (argh!!!). I had a look on-line and found that no one sells the male end for track- they just come on the track.

These are the male ends we already had on our assortment of track.

A few helpful suggestions later- sticky velcro was the winner!

I brought 1/2 metre of tan coloured adhesive from Spotlight for $4.95.

A very simple and cost effective solution to track missing the male ends. I just cut a small amount to fit the ends.

So simple and effective. It holds the track together with enough stick and can also be taken apart easily when you need to change the track layout.

Now the track has been added to our bucket of wooden trains ready to be played with. Simple!

school holiday recap

Our school holidays have been fun. We have been keeping busy. And I may have cleaned my share of vomit over this time also (and no I didn't take photos of vomit) .There has been lots of photos of silly faces

Project Life 2014 Week Twenty-nine

We survived the 2nd week of the school holidays. We seem to now be rid of sickness and vomiting (thankfully) and we got to celebrate Master W's 6th birthday and we had a very fun blue birthday party to celebrate. I made sure to keep the theatre tickets from our week and used the paper from the party bag to write on.

Since we took so many photos I choose to add an extra page insert. I also did this in week 13. Most of the extra photos are of family and friends.
